Where to Stay During Your Freediving Course in Camotes

Where to Stay During Your Freediving Course in Camotes

One of the first questions we receive after someone books a course is:“Where should I stay?” The good news is that Camotes offers accommodation for every type of traveller. Whether you’re travelling on a tight budget, looking for a comfortable private room, planning a romantic getaway or staying for several weeks of training, you’ll find an option that suits your needs.

Unlike large tourist destinations, Camotes has kept its authentic island atmosphere. Most accommodations are locally owned, relaxed and only a short distance from the ocean. Rather than giving you an endless list of hotels, we’d like to introduce the places that have consistently received excellent feedback from our students over the years.

The Ultimate Guide to Freediving in the Philippines

Do You Need to Stay Close to Camotes Freediving?

Not necessarily. Camotes is a relatively small island and getting around is easy. Many students rent a scooter, while others use tricycles or arrange transport with their accommodation. Most of the places we recommend are only a few minutes from Camotes Freediving, allowing you to reach the centre quickly every morning without spending hours commuting.

Best Budget Accommodation

If you’re travelling on a budget, there are excellent options that allow you to spend more on your freediving experience while still enjoying a comfortable stay.

RC Hutspots

RC Hutspots has become one of the favourite choices among our students. It offers both dormitory beds and private rooms, making it perfect for solo travellers, backpackers and students who enjoy meeting other freedivers after training. The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and very social. If you’re travelling alone, there’s a good chance you’ll leave with new diving friends. They also have all type of comfort levels to fit anyone.

Comfortable Private Rooms

Many of our students are looking for something simple, comfortable and quiet after a full day of training.

Hidden Huts

Hidden Huts offers exactly that. With peaceful surroundings and comfortable private accommodation, it’s an excellent option for couples or solo travellers who value a quieter environment while still being conveniently located for daily training. They are located 30s walk from a beautiful white sand beach and also have one of the best tables of the island.

AJ Apartelle

AJ Apartelle is another popular choice for students staying several days or even several weeks. The apartments provide a little more independence and space, making them particularly attractive for divers joining our Master Training Program or anyone planning an extended stay in Camotes.

DJ Beach Resort

If waking up close to the beach is part of your dream holiday, DJ Beach Resort is well worth considering. Its relaxed beachfront setting makes it a wonderful place to unwind after training, watch the sunset and fully embrace island life.

A Little More Comfort

Some visitors want to combine intensive freediving with a relaxing island holiday. If that’s your style, these accommodations are excellent choices.

Casa Verde

Casa Verde is ideal for travellers looking for a little extra comfort without losing the peaceful atmosphere that makes Camotes so special. Many students appreciate returning to a quiet room after spending the day in the water.

Should You Stay Longer Than Your Course?

If possible… Absolutely. Many students book accommodation only for the duration of their course. Then, after just a few days, they realise they don’t want to leave. Camotes has a unique way of slowing life down. Without traffic. Without crowds. Without constant distractions. Many visitors end up extending their stay to continue training, explore the island or simply enjoy a few more days in paradise.

Coach’s Tip: Stay close enough to the school that logistics never become a source of stress.

Why Camotes Island Is One of the Best Places in the World to Learn Freediving

What About Food?

Another pleasant surprise for many visitors is the variety of restaurants in Camotes.

Whether you’re looking for:

  • Filipino cuisine
  • Fresh seafood
  • Burgers
  • Pizza
  • Healthy meals
  • Great coffee

You’ll find plenty of options within a short distance of the school. Our instructors are always happy to recommend their favourite local spots.

We’ll Help You Choose

The “best” accommodation depends entirely on you. When you book your course, simply tell us:

  • Your budget.
  • Whether you’re travelling alone, with friends or as a couple.
  • How long you’re staying.
  • Whether you prefer a social atmosphere or complete tranquillity.

We’ll gladly recommend the accommodation that best matches your needs. Our goal isn’t to send everyone to the same place. It’s to help every student have the best possible experience in Camotes.

My Personal Advice

People often spend hours trying to choose the perfect hotel. Honestly… Don’t overthink it. During your stay, your room becomes much less important than everything happening outside of it. You’ll spend your days: Learning. Diving. Laughing with other students. Watching spectacular sunsets. Discovering the island. Building memories that will last far longer than your accommodation booking. Choose a place where you’ll sleep well. The rest of your experience will be shaped by the ocean.

From My Experience: The best accommodation isn’t always the most luxurious—it’s the one that lets you sleep well, recover and get to training relaxed.

Final Thoughts

One of the things I love most about Camotes is that life becomes wonderfully simple. You wake up to the sound of the ocean. Spend your day learning something new. Share stories with fellow divers over dinner. Watch another unforgettable sunset. Then wake up and do it all again. Where you stay is part of that experience. Not because you need luxury. But because, for a few days or even a few weeks, Camotes becomes your home. And whichever accommodation you choose, I hope you’ll leave with the same feeling that so many of our students share: “I came here to learn freediving… but I discovered so much more than that.”
